The Senior Fund/Portfolio & Crypto Hedge Fund Accountant will work in a fast paced and intensive crypto environment in a fully remote position. The desired candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree and have 4-5 years of experience in a Fund Administration business in a Senior Fund Accountant role. The ideal candidate will possess their CPA license and will have experience with cryptocurrency funds and working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. The successful candidate will need to efficiently support the Director in managing a portfolio of investment fund clients.
Duties And Responsibilities:
- Work with various products including equities, cryptocurrencies, bonds, swaps, options, FX, mortgages, forwards, NFT and futures
- Account for all daily activity (purchases, sales, income accruals, etc.) in an accurate and timely manner, adhering to required controls to ensure overall accuracy
- Perform portfolio and fund accounting for client accounts
- Perform investment position and cash reconciliations
- Reconcile the funds’ cash and positions/securities to external sources
- Post accounting entries to system’s ledger
- Research internal differences between the accounting and trade entries
- Ensure marketable investment prices are correct by doing a secondary check to source.
- Perform secondary checks for performance/incentive fees and management fees
- Review allocations from the accounting system and ensure that income is allocated correctly
- Calculate the Net Asset Value per share assigned, determining dividend and distribution rates, as required
- Perform month-end close processes/financial statement preparation
- Preparation and review of general ledger, financial statements, and investor capital accounts
- Prepare and review partnership calculations including subsequent closes, management fees, distribution waterfalls and partner allocations
- Facilitate and confirm receipt of required data for the preparation of financials
- Prepare financials according to GAAP and/or IFRS
- Interact daily with clients and fund counterparties, addressing any issues and concerns
- Resolve queries raised by clients and/or their related parties (e.g., auditors, investors, etc.)
- Assist with annual client audit and tax reporting
- Management of year end financial and tax audits with service providers
- All other reconciliation, maintenance and administrative functions as assigned
- Other normal and customary fund administration duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- 4-5 years of experience in a fund administration organization
- Fund Accountant experience is required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or another financial related program
- CPA or similar professional accounting designation strongly preferred
- Extensive experience in the preparation of financial statements for audit
- Proficiency in Excel
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Audit experience in the crypto space would be an asset
